Is Abortion A Sin In Christianity

Is abortion a sin in Christianity? The silhouette of a baby in this sonogram image strongly suggests that it's a distinct person.

Is abortion a sin in Christianity? The answer is an overwhelming yes.

Christians believe that abortion is murder; it is the killing of a human baby. Regardless of your religious beliefs, one needs only to see, one time, the image of a tiny severed arm with its five tiny fingers to be fully persuaded that it once belonged to a person.

Although the word abortion, a modern term, doesn’t appear in the bible, there are several verses that Christians refer to as evidence that God considers a pre-born child to be a living person.

For you created my inmost being; you knit me together in my mother’s womb. I praise you because I am fearfully and wonderfully made; your works are wonderful, I know that full well. (Psalm 139:13-14)

Speaking to Jeremiah, God said, “Before I formed you in the womb I knew you, before you were born I set you apart; I appointed you as a prophet to the nations.” (Jeremiah 1:5)

Modern medicine also demonstrates to us that a pre-born child is a person. The fact that a baby born 6 weeks premature is still a baby, clearly indicates that an abortion performed 6 weeks prior to full term, kills a baby.

The bible refers to Satan as the great deceiver, able to tell a lie so convincing that nearly everyone on Earth believes it. Abortion is one of those lies. Millions of people support and defend the murder of children and believe that they are doing something good.

Is abortion a sin in Christianity? Yes. You shall not murder (Exodus 20:13)
