Freedom In Christ

M. Ann Ricks“And now look, I free you this day from the chains that were on your hands.” Jeremiah 40:4

Saints, it sometimes concerns me that so many of us state that we have accepted Jesus Christ as our Savior but continue to walk around shackled with the chains of this life. We don’t exhibit the attributes, physical or otherwise, of a people that have been set free.

Our eyes do not shine with expectation. We continue to be deaf to what God has already promised us as part of His family and as a result, can’t hear His voice when He is trying to move us into something that will enhance us for His glory. Our lips fail to boldly proclaim our victory through Jesus but continue to chant about how we are in a “marriage from hell”, constantly broke, “sick and tired”, all the while “struggling to make Heaven our home”.

Many are inhibited by what the world may think and as a result are stifling the move of God in their lives. Some can’t even lift their hands in praise to God for fear of what the person sitting next to them will think, knowing that if it hadn’t been for the grace of God, they wouldn’t be alive!

If I didn’t know better as I witness the behaviors of people that claim to be “believers”, I would think twice about getting to know the Jesus some serve. Many shout that Jesus is the answer but fail to realize that their actions and what they say, communicate the complete opposite.

Are we displaying newness of life and “freedom in Christ” or are we the “walking dead”… just waiting for death to go to heaven? Jesus left His heavenly home to be born into this world to ultimately die a gruesome death to set us free. When we accepted Christ as instructed in Romans 10:9, we were emancipated from our sinful life and now have the power and freedom to change our circumstances. We are free, so why are so many of us touting signage stating that we are still in bondage?

No longer should we consider ourselves, sickly, drug addicts, depressed, oppressed or lowly and broke. Christ not only “delivered” us from those conditions, He eradicated them and we are henceforth and forevermore FREE! We can walk in the abundance and liberty of Jesus. Knowing Him and believing His word has afforded us the freedom to walk in victory.

So many of us are “delivered from hell” but not FREE and remain in the prisons of our past and former lives.

“There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus” Romans 8:1a

Many have arrived at the realization that Jesus is our Savior but have they arrived at the conclusion that He is our REDEEMER!? He has redeemed us and is now abiding in us! Should we continue to say that we are depressed, “going to die”, “always going to be an addict” and “unlovable” if the Greater One resides inside of us?

Jesus is none of those things. He is “altogether lovely, “wonderful”, “the center of our joy!” I ask you… Could it be that those who say they know Jesus, simply know of Jesus?

The bible tells us to “Stand fast therefore in the liberty by which Christ has made us free, and do not be entangled again with a yoke of bondage.” Galatians 5:1

Why do many of us, although having accepted Christ, continue to recite the same litany of issues that were stated prior to being a new creature in Christ? The issues that kept you in bondage have no more power, (unless you give them power).

“Whom the Son sets free, is free indeed! “John 8:36

With boldness and confidence in the word of God, we can say that we are free from sickness and it is no longer our destiny nor is it in our lineage. We are financially secure and have financial freedom because we believe that “the Earth is the Lord’s and the fullness thereof”. Because we are His, we have access to whatever the Earth can produce!

We can be free to love our spouses and have a healthy and loving marriage because God promised: “that even if some do not obey the word, they, without a word, may be won by the( Godly) conduct ( of the spouse) .”1 Peter 3:1b

We are free from generational “curses”, behaviors and tendencies! We have “whole-life success” because every aspect of our life is blessed. Our children are blessed, “May the LORD give you increase more and more, you and your children” Psalm 115:4.

FREEDOM is ours because we know the truth and have received it.
“And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free. John 8:32

Display your freedom with a smile because “the joy of the Lord is your strength”. Cast down every argument that tries to tell you that you don’t have freedom in Christ. Walk in assurance and praise Him with everything that is in you regardless of what the world may think!

I have chosen liberty in Jesus Christ, not death… What will you choose?

Well said and true. Keep posting and sharing. I pray we as believers will hear the truth and be set free. However, as I said earlier, perspective and motivation are keys in assisting others toward disciplined lasting change. I pray that His creativity within you will cause you to share fresh perspectives and unique modes of motivation!
