Recently I’ve heard a lot of people ask “How can an all loving God send anyone to hell?” Those asking the question often believe that there is no hell and that everyone goes to heaven, (If that were true there would have been no need for Jesus Christ.)
The irony however is that this belief is exactly the opposite of reality. The reality is that those who reject God because of a perceived unjustness given to the dead are themselves already dead.
…For apart from law, sin is dead. Once I was alive apart from law; but when the commandment came, sin sprang to life and I died. I found that the very commandment that was intended to bring life actually brought death. For sin, seizing the opportunity afforded by the commandment, deceived me, and through the commandment put me to death. (Romans 7:8-11)
Rather than God sending people to hell, the reality is that they are already on their way to hell, and Jesus Christ is trying to save their lives. He is holding out his hand yelling into the flames, “Grab hold of my hand, I can save you!”
These people are responding to Jesus’ saving grace by essentially saying, “No way, I’m not going to let you save me because all the people before me who refused to grab hold of your hand went to hell and I blame you for it, so therefore I won’t grab your hand either. I’d rather go to hell with the others than allow you to save me.”
Total foolishness.
If a fireman were reaching into your burning house yelling, “Grab my hand I’ll save you.” I can guarantee you’d grab his hand without any hesitation what so ever.
Grab hold of Jesus and allow him to save you.
What are your thoughts?
Gary you gotta remember the bible says the god of this world has blinded the eyes of all so they cant see the cross. God opens their eyes, shoot he opened mine i had no idea before god found me that i was to perish in hell. just as you wrote in your blog it foolishness but to those who don’t know they are blinded. we must always pray for the lost ie: moms, dads, aunts, sisters, brothers, friends, coworkers people we don’t even know that god may open their eyes to the truth which is what we’re all after till we find it.
Bill, you nailed it. What more needs to be said?
